There’s a very interesting memory of the past, the so-called transplant practice. When a leather ball was leaking it could reuse its skin by tearing the broken part and inserting inside a second ball, cheaper and more elastic, which inflated gave a second life to the dying ball. But this compromised the shape, no longer spherical but slightly elliptical.
We reconsidered the process designing a previously soaked balloon, much more durable than the original, combining the elasticity of the inner ball with the robustness of the leather outer skin.
The result is a tribute to all the kids in the future who will play football in the street.
* Topp is the translation of the Italian word "toppa" (patch) into the Apulian dialect, associating it with the same sound of the English word "top".
